About Fostering

Fostering is caring for a child or young person who is unable to live with their own family. Children come into foster care for many different reasons, and each situation is unique.

Placements can last for different lengths of time, depending on a child’s needs. Some children stay for a short period, while others may remain with you longer term. You may care for one child or, at times, a group of siblings.

We also support placements for young parents and their babies, allowing careful assessment and guidance around parenting needs. Children in foster care can be of any age, and every placement is approached with care, understanding and support.

Could you be the family to make a difference?

As a foster carer you can help a child feels safe, help them to trust again, and help them feel that they belong.

Children sometimes need help with their education, their  health needs, and sometimes their behaviour. What they really need is a safe and secure base and a caring family so that they can grow into a full sense of themselves.
