Training Schedule

Training is divided into four categories

  • Pre -approval training “Skills To Foster” is given over three sessions to new applicants.
  • Mandatory training delivered face to face and covers the essential skills and is regularly updated. This includes:
    • Health and safety
    • Equality and Diversity
    • Attachment, Trauma and Loss
    • Safeguarding
    • Record keeping
    • Positive behaviour support
    • Life story work
  • Mainstream training is delivered face to face and covers a variety of topics such as:
    • Appropriate adult responsibilities
    • Contact
    • Health and safety
    • Education
  • Individual personal and professional development topics delivered on line have included
    • Substance misuse
    • Domestic violence
    • Child sexual exploitation
    • Men who foster
    • Gang violence

Courses which relate to individual carer training need, placement or child need, or specialised resource provision such as parent and child are run periodically as required.
