Training is divided into four categories
- Pre -approval training “Skills To Foster” is given over three sessions to new applicants.
- Mandatory training delivered face to face and covers the essential skills and is regularly updated. This includes:
- Health and safety
- Equality and Diversity
- Attachment, Trauma and Loss
- Safeguarding
- Record keeping
- Positive behaviour support
- Life story work
- Mainstream training is delivered face to face and covers a variety of topics such as:
- Appropriate adult responsibilities
- Contact
- Health and safety
- Education
- Individual personal and professional development topics delivered on line have included
- Substance misuse
- Domestic violence
- Child sexual exploitation
- Men who foster
- Gang violence
Courses which relate to individual carer training need, placement or child need, or specialised resource provision such as parent and child are run periodically as required.
