Types of Foster Placement

There are different types of foster placements that are available. These include short term placements which could involve a few days or weeks while a young person is between longer placements or needing some time away from their home environment. There are also longer-term placements which can sometimes happily result in the young person being adopted by the foster family.

Parent and child placements offer the opportunity to help a young mother learn essential skills to look after herself and her child. There are also placements that require a home for groups of siblings from the same family. These are in great demand within South East London and can be a hugely rewarding type of placement. Keeping siblings together in their placements is hugely beneficial to the young people involved.
