The 15-19 November 2021 marks Anti-bullying Week. Organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA), this year’s theme is ‘One Kind Word’.

The apt theme follows a year of isolation for people around the world and ‘One Kind Word’ highlights just how important the act of kindness is in helping to break down barriers and brighten the lives of the people around us”.

The organisers have created a hub of free teaching resources which schools can use for assemblies.

The first day of the campaign will be marked by Odd Socks Day spearheaded by Anti-Bullying Alliance patron, CBBC and CBeebies star Andy Day. ABA explains: “There’s a serious message behind the fun: let’s pull on odd socks to show we’re ALL unique and different, and let’s be kind to each other and respect each other’s individuality.”

This week really helps to shed light on how a moments kindness can help in the playground and the power behind so many young people, schools, parents and foster carers getting behind anti-bullying – not just for this week but all the time.

Last year, 80% of schools took part in the week reaching over 7.5 million children and young people – let’s help to make this year’s campaign reach even more.

OwnLife Fostering shares their socks!

As an independent fostering agency, we will be sharing the resources with our foster carers to help guide the children in our care.

We’re also encouraging our foster carers and younger children to get behind the Odd Socks Day!

So, put on your odd socks and get sharing your pictures on social media to help get #AntiBullyingWeek trending on Twitter.
